Itinerary

Days 1-3

Day 1

Arrive Johannesburg

Johannesburg, “Jozi” or “Joburg” for short, is the city best known as the financial hub and cultural metropolis of South Africa. Use your free afternoon to freshen up and visit either the Apartheid Museum, Nelson Mandela’s House in Soweto, or Constitution Hill, all of which provide incredible insight into the historical implications of the apartheid regime.

Day 2

Arrive Kruger National Park

Welcome to Kruger National Park! Start your journey with a game drive through the grounds of Kruger Park, beginning at sunset and proceeding into the night-time darkness.

Day 3

Full-Day Safari

Spend a full day looking for the Big 5! Experience the beauty of the true wildlife of South Africa and the silence of the vast outdoors of Kruger Park. Choose between a full-day safari or a sunrise and sunset safari.

Days 4-7

Day 4

Panorama Route

We say goodbye to Kruger Park and make our way onto the Panorama Route. This beautiful drive takes us along the beautiful mountains, hills, and waterfalls of Blyde River Canyon. We will stop at various scenic points, such as God’s Window, the Potholes, and the Three Rondavels, all providing fantastic views into the most beautiful part of South Africa. Revel in the scenery!

Day 5

Surf's Up in Jeffrey's Bay!

Today, we travel to Port Elizabeth and begin our Garden Route journey. First stop- J Bay! This town is a paradise for surfers and beachgoers alike, with long stretches of perfect surfing conditions and an eclectic collection of clothing shops, cafés, and restaurants. Enjoy your first surfing lesson in South Africa today.

Day 6

Tsitsikamma National Park – Hikes & Bridges

Today, the beauty of nature awaits us. Tsitsikamma National Park is a beautiful nature reserve on the southern coast of the Garden Route, which contains over 80 km of coastline, several short hiking trails, and the famous Storms River Suspension Bridge that provides the individual with magnificent scenery and beautiful photo ops.

Day 7

Plettenberg Bay

Whether you are an adventure seeker, animal lover, or both, today is the day for you. jump headfirst into this wild experience – bungee-jumping off Bloukrans Bridge, the world’s highest commercial bungee jump at 216 metres. Additionally, if you want some more African wildlife – you can interact with stunning African elephants face-to-face or trunk-to-hand, as well as visit a primate or bird sanctuary in the area. Another beautiful day of adrenaline and wildlife to check off your list!

Days 8-10

Day 8

Ostriches in Oudtshoorn

The semi-desert climate of Oudsthoorn will surely provide dramatic contrasts from the lush greens and calm blues you witnessed on the coastlines. Today, you will come face-to-face with an ostrich and learn all about this elusive creature.

Day 9

Wilderness & The Mother City

We wake up this morning in the town of Wilderness, one of the most laid-back, relaxed, and gorgeous towns along the Garden Route. This coastal beach town is home to Wilderness National Park and famous for wide stretches of beaches and long rivers winding through the nearby canyons.

Day 10

Museum and Historical Tours

Today, we explore the beautiful Mother City and learn about the history of Cape Town. You will explore the Company’s Garden and St. George’s Cathedral, as well as walk the streets of colorful Bo-Kaap.

Days 11-13

Day 11

Cape Point Peninsula

Today, we leave the central business district of Cape Town and head south onto the Cape Peninsula. Enjoy panoramic routes to Cape Point, Chapman's Peak, Cape of Good Hope, Simon's Town and Boulder’s Penguin Colony.

Day 12

Cape Winelands

Travel through the scenic mountain valleys of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl, and taste the famous wine of South Africa, occasionally paired with cheese or chocolate!

Day 13

The Final Day

Today marks the departure day after a whirlwind week and a half journey through South Africa. On this day, you have the chance the optional activities you didn't get to do during the trip. Thank you for choosing ATES Africa and we hope to see you again sometime soon.
