Days 1-3

Day 1

Arrive Johannesburg

Welcome to South Africa! Johannesburg, “Jozi” for short, is the city best known as the financial hub and cultural metropolis of South Africa. Use your free afternoon to freshen up and visit either the Apartheid Museum, Nelson Mandela’s House in Soweto, or Constitution Hill, all of which provide incredible insight into the historical implications of the apartheid regime.

Day 2

Sunset Safari at Kruger National Park

As we leave Johannesburg, take in the beautiful sights around you and get ready for the wildlife of Kruger Park. When you settle in to your camping or luxury accommodation, start your journey with a game drive through the grounds of Kruger Park, beginning at sunset and proceeding into the night-time darkness.

Day 3

Full-Day Safari

Spend a full day looking for the Big 5! Experience the beauty of the true wildlife of South Africa and the silence of the vast outdoors of Kruger Park. Choose between a full-day safari or a sunrise and sunset safari.

Days 4-7


Day 4

More Safari!

Today marks our second full day on safari in Kruger National Park! Everytime you hop in your safari vehicle, you are bound to see endless animals thriving in the landscapes of the national park. No matter how many times you may see a giraffe or herd of elephants crossing your path, that image never gets old. Be sure to take plenty of photographs for your loved ones back home!

Day 5

Panorama Route

This beautiful drive takes us along the beautiful mountains, hills, and waterfalls of Blyde River Canyon. We will stop at various scenic points, such as God’s Window, the Potholes, and the Three Rondavels, all providing fantastic views into the most beautiful part of South Africa. Revel in the scenery!

Day 6

Travel Day to Cape Town

Welcome to Cape Town, South Africa! With beautiful beaches, stunning mountain ranges, rich colonial history, and powerful stories of post-apartheid struggles, you are sure to learn a lot about the history of this city over the next few days.

Day 7

Museum and Historical Tours

Today, we explore the beautiful Mother City and learn about the history of Cape Town. You will explore the Company’s Garden and St. George’s Cathedral, as well as walk the streets of colorful Bo-Kaap.

Days 8-10

Day 8

Cape Point Peninsula

Today, we leave the central business district of Cape Town and head south onto the Cape Peninsula. Enjoy panoramic routes to Cape Point, Chapman's Peak, Cape of Good Hope, Simon's Town and Boulder’s Penguin Colony.

Day 9

Cape Winelands

Travel through the scenic mountain valleys of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl, and taste the famous wine of South Africa, occasionally paired with cheese or chocolate!

Day 10

Thank you for traveling with us!

Today marks the departure day after a whirlwind week and a half journey through South Africa. On this day, you have the chance to do the optional activities you didn't get to do during the trip. Thank you for choosing ATES Africa and we hope to see you again sometime soon.
