This Drakensberg hike takes you through the remote Mnweni wilderness on the iconic Rockeries Circuit. Our Drakensberg hike is fully guided in English and Spanish, combining 4 days in the mountains with 3 days exploring Durban. Every Drakensberg hike package includes accredited guides, transport and accommodation.

Drakensberg Hike – Mnweni Rockeries Circuit 4 days

This is a four day outing in the very beautiful Mnweni area of the Drakensberg. This part of the escarpment makes a large cutback (called the Mnweni Cutback) and as a result, adds a great deal of isolation. The mountain passes to be encountered are the Mnweni and Rockeries Passes. Steep and hard work. Be sure that your efforts will be well rewarded.

Look out for major peaks like the Inner and Outer Mnweni Pinnacles and Needles. The highlight of the outing is without a doubt a full view of the loose standing Mponjwane, or Rockeries Tower, one of the Berg’s legendary peaks. Additionally, two great caves are nearby and you will have the opportunity to be right at the source of South Africa’s biggest river, the Orange River. Durban Cultural tour 3 days

After your Drakensberg hike, spend 3 days in Durban exploring one of South
Africa’s most vibrant cities. From the famous Golden Mile beachfront to the
rich Zulu cultural heritage, your bilingual guide brings the city to life
before you head home on Day 7.

Days 1-4

Day 1

Arrive Durban

Welcome to South Africa! - Welcome to Durban

The bustling city is the hub of the province’s business and industry and pulses with all the
energy of a major port city.
Your Driver/Guide will pick you at the Airport international/ Domestic arrival and will take you to
the lodge, you afternoon would be free to enjoy and settle after a long flight.

Day 2

MNWENI-ROCKERIES CIRCUIT

This is a four to a five-day outing in the very beautiful Mnweni area of the Drakensberg. This

Day 3

Ascend the Mnweni Pass and reach the escarpment summit

Once packed up it is one-way traffic straight up a 1000 meter ascent. The view from up there is breathtaking. This is really what the effort is all about. Nearby are Ledgers and Mponjwane
Caves, offering comfortable camping right on the edge of the escarpment. An additional day
can easily be added here for further exploration. Up to you!

Day 4

Descend the Rockeries Pass and into the valley below

Take it easy down the very steep slopes of the Rockeries Pass. Here you will have the
Rockeries and North Peak of the Saddle up close and personal. Camp once the valley floor is
reached.

Days 5-7

Day 5

Walk back to the Mnweni Cultural Centre

Pack up and head back to the Mnweni Cultural Centre.

Day 6

City tour Durban

We proceed along the Golden Mile, the Durban beachfront, with its golden beaches and the
longest uninterrupted waterfront promenade in Sub-Saharan Africa. Get a glimpse of the beach lifestyle that Durban is famous for; walking on the beach, swimming, cycling, surfing and much more on this amazing day.

Day 7

Thank you for traveling with us!

We say goodbye to Durban and get ready to travel back (HOME).
Your driver will pick you up to transfer you to the Airport.
